Futourist: In Asiago the tourist of the future is slow

During the preparation of the 5 itineraries that depart from Asiago and lead to discover the natural, historical and cultural wonders of the plateau

The 2019, in Italy, is the year of slow tourism: It has established the Mibact, Ministry of Heritage and cultural activities and tourism. The ideal opportunity to learn more about the slowness of virtue, as Asiago: The common symbol of the plateau is one of the partners of The "futourist" project, financed by the Interreg cross-border cooperation programme. Italy-Austria aims to promote an emotional T-tourism that rediscovers the territories, biodiversity and sustainable mobility.

A series of actions that, according to estimates, could increase tourism flows by 10% in the coming years, as well as strengthening the positive cooperation between two countries that are exchanging ideas and good practice through this channel.

Waiting for the summer season, preparations are underway: the objective is the realization of the signs and communication concerning the 5 new itineraries identified within the project.

All have the peculiarity of starting from the center of Asiago, and to reach a particular Destination: calà del Sasso, the interrupted fort, the Open Air Museum of the Great War of Monte Zebio, the Astrophysical Observatory and the Museum of water.
Each itinerary is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle and crosses several stages, all interesting from a historical, naturalistic and cultural point of view.

A way to get in relation with the landscape around Asiago and with the various operators of the territory. For slow tourists It is a question of choosing among several proposals that favour the senses, satisfying the speed of the pace and the rhythm of the seasons. Small journeys to human dimension, marked by the meetings that can be done along the way.

With "Futourist", CO2-free tourismis being promoted, which goes hand in step withenvironmental education, the care and conservation of nature. This type of experience is also promoted through educational aimed at discovering the territory, as happened last October, in the middle of the autumn, during the foliage season, of the bright colours, of the demonstrations linked to Products of the Earth.
An initiative that has allowed the enhancement of the intermediate season, from the growing potential: we are in a territory that can focus on an exceptional natural and historical heritage, as a privileged theatre of the First World War and House of Intellectuals of the calibre of Mario Rigoni Stern and Ermanno Olmi.

Also within the Futourist project are being defined other educational activities dedicated to the next seasons. In the center of Futourist There are also the operators of the territory, who will be involved in the project as in the first row in the protection and enhancement of Asiago: accommodation facilities, restaurants, huts, farmhouses and Guide Associations will create a product club linked to soft tourism.

The 5 itineraries

Calà del Sasso: We go along the "Staircase of the Alps", 4,444 irregular steps of grey limestone between rocks and cliffs, the ancient Via dei Taglialegna, where they rolled the trunks in the direction of the shipyards of the Serenissima.

Strong interrupted: The nineteenth-century border barracks became a true fortress during the Great War, and is among the most interesting testimonies of the period.

Open-Air Museum of the Great War of Mount Zebio: Part of the ecomuseum of the Great War, which houses a complex system of trenches and galleries, collects stories and testimonies.

The Astrophysical Observatory: A window wide open on the daytime and night sky. It is located in Pennar, at 1050 meters of altitude, it is property of the University of Padua.

The Water Museum: It proposes a journey above and below the surface, between cisterns, Wells of recounts, basins of alpine pastures and karst phenomena, discovering a vital element.
