The "Museo dei Cuchi" is a truly unique and particular museum, which characterizes the Roano area, located in Treschè - Cesuna. It is a collection of terracotta whistles that has belonged to the Valente family for several years now.
The museum has a collection of about 12,000 pieces, of which at least 4,000 are on display, from different Italian regions and from all over the world (Peru, Mexico, Russia, Turkey, Poland, etc.).
Inside the museum there are some rare pieces made by the skilled hands of master craftsmen and painters of the Italian twentieth century, such as Casorati, Laterza, Bonaldi and others.
Whistles come in various shapes and types, and over time they have taken on cultural , traditional and historical value. In the past, it was mainly older artists who produced them, but nowadays, this ancient art has also been passed down to younger artists, who continue to expertly make them.
The Cuchi museum is a really important testimony for the area and has recently been renovated, with a new layout that focuses on a logistical route ordered in several rooms.
The current administration strongly believes in the redevelopment of the collection and for this reason has allocated about 60 thousand euros. The large sum was used for the renovation of some walls on the ground floor, for the arrangement of a new lighting system, for the adaptation and reorganization of the internal division.
The exhibition will now be managed in collaboration with the Municipality of Roana. Its activities will be disseminated through special apps and websites, which will be promptly updated.
Finally, the current administration believes that the Cuchi Museum must be preserved and protected so that future generations can also enjoy it and learn about this reality.
The inauguration of the collection will be held on Sunday, April 28 at 11.00 a.m., at the Museum in via XXVII aprile, 16 in Treschè - Cesuna di Roana.
Municipal and regional authorities will be present. The invitation is addressed to everyone.
