Marco Balzano won the 2019 edition of the Mario Rigoni Stern prize with the book "Resto qui".

Today 14 may 2019 The jury Composed By Ilvo Diamanti, Marco Albino Ferrari, Paola Maria Filippi, Mario Isnenghi and Daniele Jalla, with the coordination of Margherita Detomas, met at the Muse, Museum of Sciences of Trento to decree the winner of the edition 2019 of the Premio Mario Rigoni Stern for the multilingual literature of ALPI.
The award entitled to the great Italian writer went by unanimous decision of the jury to "REST here" by Marco Balzano published by Einaudi with the following motivation:
"In a long story, which is also a cross-section of history, the author reconstructs, with dense and fluid writing at the same time, a controversial and difficult page of South Tyrolean history. The water that floods the country of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau in the far north of Italy is a metaphor of the political decisions of the fascist and Nazi regimes that overwhelm a whole community creating irremediable fractures in a family and social fabric that Decades to regain new cohesion. The author's explicit willingness to create a work of fiction, to which the Chronicle provides the coordinates for a more intimate and personal story, causes the novel to be read with great participation and empathy.
The jury also reported three particularly deserving works.
"THE SHEPHERD Of THE IBEX " by Louis Oreiller with theRene Borgna, published by Ponte a Grazie with the following motivation:

"THE ROAD of THE GALLERIES has 100 years" Curated by Claudio Rigon , published by Italian alpine Club sez. Di Schio, with the following motivation:

The Premio Mario Rigoni Stern for the multilingual literature of the Alps – worth 10000 Euro – takes place in two areas: the Veneto region and the province of Trento.
Numerous institutions and associations supporting the initiative: Regione Veneto and Regional Council of Veneto, municipality of Asiago, Autonomous Province of Trento, municipality of Riva del Garda, in addition to Gruppo ITAS Assicurazioni and Rigoni of Asiago, Riva del Garda Fiere and Congresses, the Ars Venandi Circle and the Italian Federation of Hunting, the Museum of Customs and costumes of the people of Trentino.
The awards ceremony will take place on June 15th at Palazzo Labia in Venice and on June 16th at the Millepini Theatre in Asiago.
