Plastic Free Onlus Stand a Made in Malga 2022

Cleanup Asiago 11 September 2022 - Press release of 12 September 2022

Plastic Free Onlus continues its work of raising awareness in the Municipality of Asiago and, after the ecological walk in August that had seen about thirty volunteers clean up the path in the Piana del Prunno, on Sunday 11 September another environmental cleaning event was held, this time concentrated in the urban area.

The participants of the event, about thirty, met mid-morning in the parking lot of the ice stadium and, after the ritual reception, led by the local representative Roberto Basso and coordinated by the regional referent Riccardo Mancin, they walked collecting the waste first through the peripheral streets, converging in front of the military shrine and then continuing to the center, finally popping up in the park of Remembrance and closing the ring path reaching the Millepini park.

During the walk the typical urban waste was collected, from the butt to the small packaging passing through masks and scratch cards, certainly increased in the last two weeks given the concomitance of Made in Malga and the large influx of visitors. Several bags were recovered, a starting point for bitter reflection for the volunteers. "At first glance it always seems quite clean – explains the regional referent Mancin – then at the end, despite not talking about important quantities, we still realize the multitude of waste scattered throughout the territory, even along city streets. We want to make it clear how important it is to have more attention and care for the environment and how important it is that all citizens become an active part in this change."

Plastic Free also had the opportunity to attend Made in Malga with an information stand that was quite successful given the many people who stopped curious and eager to learn more and also saw the welcome visit of the mayor Roberto Rigoni Stern, passed to greet and thank the group. "Plastic is now ubiquitous, it is not only a problem of the seas and rivers but also of the hills and mountains – continues Mancin – People must know why knowledge is the first fundamental step for an awareness of the issue and for an awareness aimed at change. I hope that some Asiaghese will support Basso in this work of sensitization of the territory, there is a great need. We have an interesting school project, we need someone who is willing to present it. I thank the mayor for the beautiful words spent for us and the Councilor Monica Gios for the environmental commitment and total availability towards us."

Next appointment a cleaning in the Bisele valley for October, anyone who wants to join these initiatives can stay updated by registering on the site www.plasticfreeonlus.it or by subscribing to the Facebook groups Plastic Free Veneto and Plastic Free Vicenza.
