The Altopiano dei Sette Comuni prepares to host President Sergio Mattarella on May 24, 2016
It's settled: the head of State Sergio Mattarella will be visiting on theAsiago plateau next May 24, on the occasion of the centenary of the great war and, more particularly, of the beginning of Profugato.
Confirming the news, which circulated for days, was the first citizen of Asiago, Roberto Rigoni Stern, now busy with preparations for the ceremony of bestowal of honorary citizenship to the President of the Republic, to be held the day of the visit, 11 a.m., in the presence of all the mayors of the plateau.
At the end of the ceremony, to be held in the Council Chamber of Asiago, will pay tribute to the fallen at the War Memorial.
In addition to be an honorary citizen of Asiago, the helicopter will fly 24 may Mattarella whole area of Ortigara, one of the symbols of atrocious and tragic events of the great war. The President will land then at Lozze, near the Church, where will a laurel wreath.
Along with Sergio Mattarella, Defense Minister will be present at Asiago, Roberta Pinotti, the Governor of the Veneto region Luca Zaia and other authorities, including the mayors of Vicenza.
Throughout the plateau it will definitely be an important opportunity to honor and remember, along with the Italian authority, fallen soldiers and dispersed that, just on our mountains, lost their lives during the first world war.
