Approved in the city council the resolution for the twinning between the two historically close communities

With the city council of 26 January 2023, the resolution concerning the approval of the friendship and twinning pact between the Municipalities of Roana and Nanto was approved, as a sugello of the friendship born over the years between the two territories.
The two communities had already come into contact in 1916, during the evacuation of the inhabitants of Treschè Conca who found refuge in Nanto from 1916 to 1919.
Starting from this historical event, the two communities have shared a deep sense of solidarity and friendship.
The two Alpine Groups of Treschè Conca and Nanto have always been in contact and have signed a twinning pact in 2016 with the publication of a historical compendium between the communities that had the formal patronage and collaboration of the Municipal Administrations of Roana and Nanto.
On July 25, 2021, after more than a century, yet another initiative was carried out to underline the friendship and the bond between the two territories when a group of historical re-enactors, led by the alpine Mariano Carollo, brought back a wheelbarrow full of memorabilia from Nanto to Treschè Conca , walking along the entire route used by the refugees during the aforementioned evacuation and guarded until then by the community of Nanto.
The twinning pact between Roana and Nanto aims to foster the sense of friendship and collaboration between the respective communities, promote exchange and collaboration initiatives on every aspect of the social and cultural life of the two municipalities, support the exchange of experiences also through the organization of parties, events, cultural and recreational activities and, organize exchanges between educational institutions and associations of the respective communities, promote exchanges of a tourist-cultural and economic-professional nature.
The agreement also provides for the formalization of a special "Twinning Committee", open to any contribution, as representative as possible of municipal sociality, in charge of the practical implementation of useful actions to feed the twinning itself with the task, also, of coordinating the program of twinning activities and of promoting an information and communication action among the citizens. of the various initiatives that will be undertaken.
"The twinning agreement was approved at the meeting of the municipal council of Roana on January 26, during the National Day of Memory and Sacrifice of the Alpini, in homage to the Alpine Groups of Treschè Conca and Nanto – underlines the Councilor of the Municipality of Roana, Cesare Azzolini – The Alpine Groups have long been asking for recognition of the closeness between the two communities. As a municipal administration we have accepted this will and we have set to work to achieve this twinning pact. Decisive was the will and commitment of the two administrations that will soon formalize the twinning with the signing of the Twinning Charter by the two mayors, Elisabetta Magnabosco and Manuela Vecchiatti, for which occasion a special ceremony will be organized. Subsequently, the two administrations and the twinning committee will get to work for the promotion of new shared initiatives, such as making the re-enactment of the way of the refugee a recurring event so as not to forget the suffering and sacrifices of our communities", concludes Azzolini.
