Work continues on the relaunch of the Melette Ski Area in Gallium, it is expected to open in December
"In recent winters, there has also been no snow, but the closure of the Melette has really represented a negative factor that has made the winter season disappear in all respects".
This is how the TGR Veneto service of 4 October 2018 dedicated to the new works that are affecting the Melette area begins, in view of the upcoming opening.
The Ski Area of Melette di Gallio, in fact, will reopen - hopefully - by the end of December, with new ski lifts and a new bridge, which will allow you to go from one side of the slopes to the other without having to take off your skis. The new Krauslava bridge will also be useful in summer for the passage of mountain bikes.
The progress of the work, financed by the Municipalities of Asiago, Gallium and Roana taking advantage of the funds allocated to the border territories and with the help of entrepreneurs, traders and individuals who wanted to participate in the relaunch project, had slowdowns due to the reclamation works from bombs and war residues.
The war reclamation, which was budgeted at 60 thousand euros, has in fact caused six months of delays, jumping in costs to about 200 thousand euros, as the mayor of Gallio Emanuele Munari explains in the service.
Despite these unforeseen events, the work continues and in these days the new chairlift is being assembled, with innovative technology that will allow the ascent in about 4 minutes (compared to the 12 minutes taken by the old chairlift).
