Live webcam on Piazza IV Novembre in Lusiana
This live webcam of Asiago.it broadcasts live from Piazza IV Novembre, the civic, cultural and symbolic center of the town of Lusiana, a hamlet of the current Municipality of Lusiana Conco, on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities in the province of Vicenza. Once an autonomous municipality, Lusiana joined Conco in 2019, following a referendum, forming a single administrative reality.
Located at 752 meters above sea level, Lusiana is the lowest town on the plateau and represents its southern "bulwark": its territory, although largely part of the mountain belt, slopes gently towards the hill and opens onto the Venetian plain, so much so that, on clear days, the gaze can go as far as the Venice lagoon. It is no coincidence that Lusiana is also known as the "balcony of the Plateau".
Piazza IV Novembre, clearly visible from the webcam, takes its name from the end date of the First World War, remembered every year with the solemn ceremony of November 4 at the war memorial.
Dominant in the frame is the parish church of San Giacomo Apostolo, or simply the church of San Giacomo, with its elegant Renaissance façade in local red marble. Above the pediment stand the statues of the Redeemer, the Immaculate Virgin and St. Joseph, while on the sides are those of St. Anthony of Padua and St. James the Apostle. The interior of the church houses marbles and valuable works of art, including two splendid altarpieces by Jacopo Bassano: The Descent of the Holy Spirit and The Nativity. Next to the church - not visible in the frame - stands the imposing square-based bell tower, built between 1876 and 1890, about 73 meters high and equipped with five mighty bells that mark the time and life of the town.
The square also houses the municipal headquarters (at number 1), which houses the offices of the mayor, the city council, the various municipal departments and numerous public services for citizens, confirming itself as the administrative heart of the community. Around the square there are also well-kept buildings, some shops and bars, while nearby are the Museo Diffuso di Lusiana (housed in a seventeenth-century building) and the Palazzon Ethnographic Museum, making this space an authentic junction between administration, historical memory and social life.
Today, as yesterday, Piazza IV Novembre is the meeting point of the community and holidaymakers: a place of events, commemorations and demonstrations, as well as an ideal starting point to discover the surroundings of Lusiana and the beauties of the Plateau.
See Lusiana in real time, be inspired by the beauty of this village overlooking the Venetian plain.
