Photo by Roberto Costa EbechFrom Friday 21 to Thursday 27 August 2026 , the historic center of Asiago will host the highly anticipated 44th edition of the International Wood Sculpture Competition, a beautiful event, which takes place in the streets and squares of the city, dedicated to the art of wood carving and which has fascinated the highlands and tourists from all over Italy and abroad for many years.
16 artists, Italian and foreign, will participate in the competition, who will create their works starting from a wooden trunk or a panel, under the watchful eyes of passers-by, who will be able to admire the sculptures gradually taking shape in the main streets and squares of the historic center.
Visitors will be able to witness the skilful art of the sculptors live and spend pleasant days immersed in the atmosphere steeped in creativity of the center of Asiago.
To be admitted to the final exhibition, the works in competition must necessarily be completed by the evening of Wednesday 26 August.
Starting from the early morning of Thursday 27 August, the sculptures will be brought together at the Gardens of Piazza Carli, where they will remain on display to the public. The award ceremony will be held on the same day, Thursday 27 August 2026, at 11:00 am, also at the Gardens of Piazza Carli.
The winning artist will receive a prize of € 2,000 gross.
Also this year there will be the prize of the popular jury named after Joe Dalle Ave, which will be delivered to the artist most voted by citizens and tourists (by means of cards to be delivered to the IAT Desk in Piazza Carli by 16:00 on August 26).
There will also be a Press Award in collaboration with the newspaper L'Altopiano.
There will also be a children's jury: all children aged 3 to 14 (eighth grade) will be able to cast their vote with a form to be delivered to the Tourist Information Desk in Piazza Carli by 16:00 on 26 August.
