Award ceremony for the best postal stamp in Asiago

Sunday, July 25, 2021 will be held the 51st edition of the International Prize of Philatelic Art "City of Asiago" organized by the Philatelic Circle of the Seven Municipalities with the Municipal Administration.

The prize will be presented to the diplomatic representatives of the awarded nations at the Sala dei Quadri of the Municipal Palace of Asiago at 11.00am, in the presence of various authorities.

Archived the edition of the fiftieth anniversary, the Asiago International Prize of Philatelic Art looks ahead, without forgetting the roots. It does so by paying due tribute to two columns of the Oscar of philately: the writer Mario Rigoni Stern,of whom on November 1st the century of birth will also be remembered with a special stamp, and Maurizio Stella.

Annullo asiago 24072021On the same day also the Post Office of the Republic of San Marino will join the celebrations of Mario Rigoni Stern, the sergeant in the snow that in the cancellation, signed by Franco Filanci, is evoked through his autograph and some red poppies.

In June 2007 when the jury met to decide which stamps to reward the following July 15. As soon as he saw the English leaflet "Lest we forget", not to forget, with the two final "t" transformed crosses, issued in 2006 in memory of the battle of Somme in 1916, from the lips of Mario Rigoni Stern spontaneously came out some verses by Fabrizio De André, who hummed: "... sleep buried in a wheat field – it's not the rose it's not the tulip that shade you from the edge of the ditches but they are a thousand red poppies...".  The British issue was awarded the medal of the President of the Republic.
The next day, Sunday, July 25, Poste Italiane will boil the correspondence departing from the post office specially opened in the Town Hall of Piazza Risorgimento 3, with the cancellation that, through the portrait, pays tribute to Mario Rigoni Stern. This is the second that the calm face of the singer of nature and the mountain is shown through a postal cancellation. The previous one dates back to July 20, 2008, just over a month after his death.
At 11 am on the same day in the Sala dei Quadri,in which the bas-reliefs of Giovanni Forte Tanasio stand out, with the representation of the twelve months and four large panels by Alessandro Pomi, one of which depicts the act of dedication to the Regency In Venice, the "top" stamps will be announced and awarded. The best stamp in the world and, to follow, the best stamps themed tourism and environment.

There will also be the traditional awards of two Academies. The Olympic Academy of Vicenza, chaired by Gaetano Thiene, who is also president of the Asiago Prize for philately, for the cultural message spread through the stamp and the Academy of Philately and Postal History, directed by Franco Filanci, for the most innovative image.
Stamps, including all those awarded in 51 years in Asiago, can be admired from 23 to 25 July (hours 10-12, 30 and 15.30-19) in the exhibition that the Philatelic and Numismatic Circle Seven Municipalities set up in what was once the railway station and which is now the seat of the Mountain Union due Regency of the Common Septa
