The International Philatelic Award "City of Asiago", organized by the Philatelic Circle of the Seven Municipalities with the Municipal Administration, reaches its 52nd edition this year.
The ceremony will be held on Sunday 17 July 2022 at the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Asiago at 11.00 am, in the presence of various authorities.
This is the award ceremony for the best stamp issued by a postal administration worldwide.
Those who have promoted tourism and the environment better than others will be awarded prizes to culture by the Olympic Academy and creativity by the Italian Postal and Philatelic Academy.
The prestigious award is chaired by Gaetano Thiene, president of the Olympic Academy.
MARCO MARTALAR'S ROOSTER ON THE CANCELLATION OF SAN MARINO CELEBRATING THE 52ND ASIAGO INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR PHILATELIC ART
"Il Gallo di Vaia" by Marco Martalar, artist from Mezzaselva di Roana, which revives the wood that survived the "Vaia storm" that hit the woods between Veneto and Trentino in 2018, transforming it into works of art, becomes a postal cancellation.
Over three meters high and weighing about 300 kilos, the " Rooster" that permanently guards the entrance to the municipality of Gallium, one of the countries most affected by the storm, presenting itself as a symbol of strength and rebirth, illustrates the postal cancellation of July 16 with which San Marino pays tribute to the 52nd Asiago International Prize of philately art.
A Hoopoe, a bird lover of open spaces and mild climates, designed by Roberta Barolo appears in turn on the cancellation of Poste Italiane on July 17th.
Meanwhile, the Judging Panel, which this year records three appearances in pink: Sophie Bastide, editor-in-chief of the prestigious specialized monthly "L'Echo de la Timbrologie"; Daniela Fusco, appreciated medalist and stamp designer and Elisabetta Olmi, who follows in the footsteps of her father Ermanno, a notched Asiago juror since its first edition, is putting the finishing touches to the list of stamps to be awarded. Stamps, as we know, which are chosen from those sent to the Organizing Committee of the Asiago Prize of Philately directly by the Postal Administrations. Rewarding among these the best for design and message of 2021, and then those that have best promoted tourism and respect for the environment.
For some years now, these three traditional prizes have been joined by the awards of two Academies. The Olympic Academy, led by Gaetano Thiene who is also president of the Asiago Philately Award, which rewards the stamp with the greatest cultural content, and the Italian Academy of Philately and Postal History, chaired in turn by Franco Filanci, which rewards the creativity linked to the stamp.
From 8 to 17 July the headquarters of the Mountain Union in via Stazione 1, hosts (15.30 – 19, from Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9.30 – 12.30 and from 15.30 to 19) an informative exhibition with free admission. It is organized by the Circolo filatelico e numismatico Sette Comuni. Exposed, among other things, the various postal cancellations of the Asiago Prize and Ortigara.
The Federation of Italian Philatelic Societies (FSFI), founded in 1919, is a free national organization, which inspires its action to cultural volunteering, thus eliminating any profit.
It aims to bring together all the associations, unions, circles, groups and the like that provide in their statute philatelic collecting activities, to coordinate, support and develop the common action of propaganda and knowledge of philately.
