On Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., Piazza Carli in Asiago will be the setting for a new appointment in the Aperitif with the author by Brazzale review, which will feature Mario Giordano, journalist and one of the best-known faces of Italian television, on the occasion of the presentation of his new book "The kings of money. Intrigues, secrets and power of the lords of the banks. Behind savers' backs", published by Rizzoli.
In his new essay, Giordano takes the reader behind the scenes of the Italian banking and financial system, recounting with clear language and narrative slant a complex power game that, while directly affecting the daily lives of millions of citizens, often remains confined to the economic pages of newspapers. At the center of the volume are the protagonists of the so-called "great banking risk": managers, credit institutions and large financial groups that, through mergers, acquisitions and economic strategies, influence the fate of savings, mortgages and Italian companies.
With his usual direct and documented style, the author reconstructs alliances, rivalries and interests that animate the world of high finance, transforming an apparently technical subject into a compelling story accessible to all. Mario Giordano (Alessandria, 1966) is a journalist, essayist, author and television presenter. During his career he has directed Studio Aperto, TGcom24 and Il Giornale, distinguishing himself for investigative journalism aimed at the themes of politics, economics and customs. Since 2018 he has hosted the television program Fuori dal coro, dedicated to the in-depth analysis of current affairs.
He is the author of numerous investigative bestsellers, including Leeches, Sharks, Vultures, Vampires, Jackals, Dynasty and the most recent "The Kings of Coins" (Rizzoli, 2026), in which he analyzes the balances and protagonists of the Italian financial system through a rigorous and informative story.
