On Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., Piazza Santa Giustina in Roana will host a new appointment in the Aperitif with the Author by Brazzale review with Matteo Strukul, who will present his new thriller novel "The revenge of the lions of Venice - Intrigues, blood and revenge in the city that does not forgive" (ed. Newton Compton Editori).
Set in Venice in 1617, in the aftermath of the Bedmar conspiracy, the novel takes readers to a Serenissima crossed by political intrigue, espionage and power struggles. As the hunt for the Spanish conspirators continues, the stories of the mysterious Caigo, the "Ghost of Venice", the young perfumer Rea, the painter Chiara Varotari, the head of the cops Marco Valier and the ruthless adventurer known as L'Invelenada are intertwined. In the background, the war of Gradisca also rages on, between battles, betrayals and revenge that culminate in a no-holds-barred clash.
Sequel to the acclaimed The Conspiracy of the Vipers, the novel confirms the unmistakable style of Matteo Strukul, capable of blending historical rigor, narrative rhythm and great adventure in a plot full of twists and turns.
Admission to the event is free, subject to availability.
In case of bad weather, the meeting will be held at the Cimbrian Cultural Institute.
