On Wednesday 29 July 2026, at 5:30 pm, the central stage of Piazza Carli in Asiago will host a new appointment in the Aperitivo con l'Autore by Brazzale review with the writer Santina Cosetta, who will present her novel "Sola il giorno" (ed. Giunti).
Set in Sicily at the end of the nineteenth century, the book tells the story of Marianna, a child who came into the world without being wanted by anyone. Entrusted to Lisetta, the "stria" of the village, she grew up learning the secrets of herbs, cooking and caring for people, but above all a lesson destined to mark her whole life: food is not only used to nourish the body, but can become a language of love, welcome and salvation.
When Lisetta leaves for America, Marianna is sent to serve at Irminio, a large farmhouse in the Ragusa countryside. It is here that a complex world opens up before her, governed by rigid social hierarchies and ancient rules that no one dares to question. In the large kitchen of the estate, however, the young woman finds for the first time a place where she can feel part of something and slowly begins to build her own identity.
The arrival of the Baroness's wealthy grandchildren will once again change the course of her existence. Between deep friendships, unexpected desires and a love capable of challenging conventions and social boundaries, Marianna embarks on a path of growth that will lead her to confront freedom, courage and the right to choose for herself. A conquest that was anything but simple, especially in an era when the destiny of women seemed already written.
Inspired by the real story of her great-grandmother, Santina Cosetta gives life to an intense novel of training and redemption, populated by strong and memorable female figures. A story that crosses love, pain, sacrifice and hope, telling the ability to get up even when life seems to give no chance.
The meeting will offer the public the opportunity to get to know an author who intertwines family memory and narrative, giving voice to an unforgettable protagonist and a story that speaks of roots, identity and the search for her own path.
Admission to the event is free, subject to availability.
In case of bad weather, the meeting will take place at the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Asiago.
