After the afternoon appointment in Asiago, the Aperitif with the author by Brazzale review will stop at the Palace of Culture and Tourism in Enego, where on Thursday 20 August 2026, at 21:00, Sigfrido Ranucci will meet the public to present his latest book "The return of the caste. Inside the occult system that wants to take away our freedom", published by Bompiani. 

Historical face of Italian investigative journalism and presenter of the television program Report, Ranucci reconstructs what he calls a "black thread" capable of crossing over fifty years of Italian history. A path that, according to the author, connects apparently distant events - from the P2 lodge to the season of Tangentopoli, from the governments of the Second Republic to the most recent reforms of justice - showing how a system of power oriented towards downsizing the role of the judiciary and the instruments of democratic control has progressively asserted itself.
Through documents, historical reconstructions and journalistic analyses, the author proposes a critical reading of the institutional transformations underway, questioning the possible consequences for the balance between the powers of the State and for the protection of citizens' rights.

Ample space is also reserved for the theme of legality and the role of the judiciary in the history of the Republic. Ranucci recalls the sacrifice of the magistrates who lost their lives in the fight against organized crime and underlines how the independence of justice represents, in his analysis, a fundamental guarantee for all citizens. 

The meeting will offer the public the opportunity to explore these issues together with the author, in a discussion dedicated to current political events, investigative journalism and the value of information as a safeguard of democracy.

About the author

Sigfrido Ranucci (Rome, 1961) is one of the most authoritative Italian investigative journalists. After his debut at the Radio Rai newspaper, he joined the editorial staff of Report, where he carried out numerous investigations dedicated to organized crime, corruption, the environment, health, international trafficking and major political-economic scandals. 
Since 2017 he has been the presenter and head of the historic investigative broadcast of Rai 3, taking up the legacy of Milena Gabanelli.

During his career he has received numerous awards for investigative journalism and has distinguished himself for a rigorous work of documentary in-depth analysis and protection of sources.

In parallel with his television activity, he has published several books that explore issues related to information, legality and the relationship between political and economic power, including The Pact (2010), The Choice (2021), The Strategy of Deception (2022), The Return of Caste (2026).
