NOTES ON MAP

The first of the three Sonatas of op. 12 by Beethoven can be considered a brilliant concert piece, featuring a pleasant euphoria.                                                               The idea of dialogue between piano and violin is constant and decisive. The two instruments alternate in the melodic line, Parley develops into a lively imitation of motifs between dynamic contrasts in short, abrupt shifts of accent by syncopations, modulations. The allegro con brio and the Rondo which are marked by an immediate spontaneity, enclose the Andante con moto, a theme and variations, very expressive, that the intensity of his inventive quality goes beyond what was expected of a musical genre at the time, whose purpose was to entertain company.

The Ballade No. 3 in a flat major, op. 47 by Chopin seems to have been inspired by the legend of Mieckiewicz, Undine: a young, carried by the waves, condemned to chase the ondina for eternity. Full of charm and poetry, is a masterpiece of romantic music, which shows both the intimate and subjective lyricism of Chopin's most epic and grandiose character.

Studies op. 8 n° 9/8/11 of Scriabin resent the influence of the famous Chopin's studies, but the composer manages to make them, in his own writing, original, unusual harmonies and textures very strongly.

Also in listening to the Second Ballad of Liszt is to be aware of a literary suggestion, which refers to the classical myth of hero and Leander. This music is strongly descriptive: a seethe of ascending and descending chromatic scales that mimic the wind, lyrical and dreamy moments alluding to encounter between two young, major progressions that enclose the drama of the moment. The listener goes over so this myth of love and death that provides symbolic horizon of a virtuoso piece, crossed by an anguished fatality.

The concert will be followed by light refreshments.
