In Piazza Duomo in Asiago screening of a great documentary on the First World War
On Sunday, August 1st, at 9:00pm, in Piazza Duomo in Asiago,the Asiago Film Festival proposes the screening of "Fango e gloria", a documentary on the Great War directed by the architect Leonardo Tiberi,former editorial director of theIstituto Luce.
The film, lasting 90 minutes, focuses on the story of the Italian Unknown Soldier,who in the film is identified with Mario, a fictional character, played by the Veronese Eugenio Franceschini.
It is the story of Mario, his friends and his girlfriend, boys from the small bourgeoisie of the province, whose life and future will be transformed by the entry into the war of Italy.
Mario, son of the provincial bourgeoisie, is convinced that Italy will not enter the conflict, and attends his womaniser friend Emilio and his girlfriend Agnese convinced that all three will grow old together in the stillness of Emilia Romagna. Instead both Mario and Emilio are enlisted and sent to the front, where they will fight hoping to return home alive.
It is a curious cinematic experiment,the docu-film Fango e gloria, which connects repertory images taken from the archives of the Istituto Luce with sequences of fiction that tell what could hide behind every unknown soldier, unrecognizable when his corpse is recovered, and instead rich in history, hopes and affections before meeting his fate.
The screening will start at 9.00 pm and admissionwill be free.
