At the Forte Interrupted screening of a great film about the First World War
On Tuesday, August 3rd, at 8:45pm, in the evocative setting of the Forte Interrotto in Asiago,the Asiago Film Festival offers an exciting event.
It will start at 20:45 when the Asiago Choir will introduce with its songs the screening of the evening, which will start at 21:00.
The film we will see will be "Uomini contro" by Francesco Rosi,a 1970 film with Gian Maria Volonté,Pier Paolo Capponi, Alain Cuny, Franco Graziosi, Mark Frechette.
The film is set right on the Asiago Plateau during World War I. The screenplay by Francesco Rosi, Tonino Guerra and Raffaele La Capria is based on "Un anno sull'Altipiano", the novel by Emilio Lussu from which he draws inspiration.
The story is that of Second Lieutenant Sassu, a former interventionist student, who once at the front discovers the absurdity of the war, fighting in the division commanded by General Leone, a veteran who continually shows inhumanity.
The inadequacy of the armaments and the attempts at rebellion of the soldiers follow one another in the absolute deafness of a high command that persists in a war in which life no longer has any value.
To the investigation of the clash of nations, this film puts the one between social classes before it, shifting attention from a traditional historical perspective towards a more deeply ideological one.
