BOOK "ALL'INFERNO E RITORNO per la nostra rinascita sociale ed economica" - Feltrinelli

The world is facing the worst economic crisis since the Second World War. The virus is doing more serious damage than Lehman Brothers. What about Italy? You have to go back to 1945 to find a worse figure of gdp fall.
The crisis has highlighted our weaknesses, of course, but also our strengths, including our ability to respond well in emergency conditions. But facing the emergency is not enough, and it is not enough to go back to where we were in 2019: now we have before us the responsibility for reconstruction.
Carlo Cottarelli stands on the border between the world that collapses and the world that will come after. And, while he accompanies us through the labyrinth of economic possibilities available to us today, he shows us how Italy needs to return to growth in a sustainable way from a social, financial and environmental point of view. We must save our economy, but to do so we need more equality, especially in the opportunities that are provided to the new generations.
For this it takes politics, and in fact this is a book (also) political. Because it speaks of how Italian society should function on the basis of an ideal principle: the possibility for everyone to have a future in life, regardless of the conditions in which one was born. it is important that the political agendas start from a clear statement of the society that one would like to achieve. Otherwise, politics becomes personalism, opportunism and cynicism.

"We are emerging from the crisis, but it is not enough to go back to where we were in 2019, the year that ended the worst twenty years in the economic history of Italy. To really start again, we need radical reforms in our economy and in our society."

A guide in the labyrinth of our economic reconstruction but also an idea for the future of Italy, starting from three watchwords: equality of possibility, merit and solidarity.
