Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10.00 am, at the Council Chamber of the Municipal Palace of Asiago, the ceremony of delivery of the plaque "City of Cheese 2022" to the City of Asiago will be held.
The ceremony is organized by the Department of Tourism of the City of Asiago in collaboration with Onaf (National Organization of Cheese Tasters).
The President of the Regional Council Roberto Ciambetti, the Vice President Nicola Finco and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Vicenza Giorgio Xoccato assured their presence.
On this occasion the Municipal Administration of Asiago will symbolically deliver the keys of the huts to the individual conductors of the huts constituting the "heritage of the Municipality of Asiago".
For this initiative the delegation will be represented by the master Onaf Laura Veronese.
The Onaf delegation of Vicenza organizes the event "City of Cheese" which this year will see the official proclamation of "Asiago City of Cheese 2022" in the presence of the national president Onaf Pier Carlo Adami.
Onaf in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Asiago and other bodies is preparing:
- Realization of the logo that will appear on the tourist plaque to be placed in one of the entrances of the City of Asiago.
- Announcement that, in collaboration with the , three separate dairy competitions will be held in the coming years that will have the following titles:
- The best Asiago DOP produced in the mountains;
- The best cheese of the ancient Regency of the 7 Municipalities;
- The best cheese worthy of the Emperor.
- The ONAF will ensure the composition of the selection boards of the nominated competitions. To represent the Onaf in this initiative is appointed the master Onaf Fiorenzo Rigoni.
- Announcement of the beginning of a special collaboration between Onaf and the Institute of Higher Education "Mario Rigoni Stern" hotel section of Asiago. At this school will be scheduled workshops with Onaf teaching, it will be home to courses for aspiring cheese tasters reserved for students, their teachers, representatives of economic categories and tourism promotion and those who want to learn the techniques of sensory tasting. For this project the Onaf will be represented by the teacher and lecturer Onaf Mirko Rigoni.
- By the Award-winning and the company Guglielmi Stagionatura, as an example of cheese-art, on two forms of cheese will be stylized the logos of Onaf and the panel "Asiago City of Cheese 2022". The shapes will remain in homage to the Municipality of Asiago and will be cut on the occasion of the event "" or in another public event chosen by the Municipality. For this initiative the delegation will be represented by the master Onaf Roberto Dagli Orti.
Finally, the solemnity of the event will frame the oath and the delivery, by the hand of President Adami, of the diplomas to the new master tasters who have passed the exam of the second level course Onaf.
At the ceremony in addition to the Mayor of Asiago Roberto Rigoni Stern, the Councilor for Tourism Nicola Lobbia will also be present the Onaf delegates of Vicenza, Padua and Venice and the Asiago Cheese Brotherhood.
