How to prepare for the Rogation of Asiago 2026
The Rogation of Asiago is an event open to all those who want to share it with us. It is good to know, however, that it is not a tourist event or a walk, but a journey of faith and a tradition to which our Plateau is very linked, and it should be addressed in this spirit.
If you decide to participate in the Great Rogation, as well as in any mountain excursion, it is good to keep in mind some tips on how to prepare for it.
How to dress and what to take with you
For every excursion in the mountains it is advisable to equip yourself with the appropriate clothing, remembering that you must be prepared to face all weather conditions, which can sometimes be very variable in the mountains with rapid transitions from clear to sudden wind and rain.
The Rogation also takes place in all weather conditions. It is therefore a good idea to wear a pair of trousers made of cotton or technical fabric that protects from the air and at the same time maintains body temperature. The same goes for the t-shirt. Synthetics should be avoided, as they do not allow the skin to breathe. To be preferred then aremountain boots with a good non-slip molded sole, rather than the highly discouraged sneakers. On her feet also a nice pair of wool socks that cover the calf.
To bring with you both a sweatshirt or fleece and a windbreaker and a K-way to put in your backpack even if you leave with the sun. In the mountains, it is not unusual for people to wake up in the morning with clear skies and then the weather changes in the afternoon with clouds and precipitation. A cap to protect your head from the sun, sunglasses, and if you have particularly delicate skin even a sunscreen are also appropriate. And even if the Rogation is not a tourist event, a camera will allow you to immortalize a memory that you will carry with you for a very long time.

How to organize yourself with drinks and packed meals
First of all, it is essential to bring enough water with you to face the walk, but also a drink rich in mineral salts, to help in case of drops in pressure due to fatigue and heat. Before departure, we recommend eating a rich breakfast based on milk, biscuits or rusks with honey or jam and a fruit, to have enough energy to face the first part of the journey.
While waiting for the lunch break, avoid nibbling to avoid making the digestive effort coincide with physical effort. For lunch , we recommend that you bring energy but light and easy to digest foods with you so as not to feel weighed down as you continue walking. Well, for example, sandwiches with cheese or cold cuts (avoid sausages and mortadella that promote thirst), hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, energy bars, rice or pasta salad.
How to prepare for the Rogation
To face the Rogation you certainly don't need to be an athlete, but a minimum of preparation is still necessary. So just train first with some walking, having the trick of already using the boots that you will use during the Rogation in order to get used to them and soften them.
Another excellent training system would be running, initially alternating with walking, to be done a couple of times a week to prepare the muscles of the legs, heart and lungs.
Hoping to have provided you with some useful suggestions, we now only have to wish you a pleasant participation in the Great Rogation!
If, on the other hand, you are a D.O.C. and have other advice dictated by your experience on how to deal with the Rogation, do not hesitate to write to us, the best ones will be published!
