Uto Ughi has shown an extraordinary talent from early childhood: at the age of seven he performed for the first time in public by performing the Chaconne from Bach's Partita n° 2 and some Paganini Caprices. He performed his studies under the guidance of George Enescu, already master of Yehudi Menuhin. When he was only twelve years old and the critics wrote: "Uto Ughi should be regarded as a concert artist artistically and technically mature".

He started his great European tours, performing in the most important European capitals. Since then his career has relentless. He played in fact worldwide, in major Festivals with the most renowned orchestras including the Concertgebouw, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Washington Symphony Orchestra and many others, under the direction of masters such as Barbirolli, Cluytens, Chung, Bychkov, Celibidache, Ceccato, Colon, Fruhbeck de Burgos, cats, Davis, Gergiev, Giulini , Kondrascin, Jansons, Leitner, Lu Jia, Inbal, Maazel, Masur, Mehta, Nagano, Penderecki, Pretre, Rostropovich, Sanderlin, Sargent, Sawallisch, Sinopoli, Slatkin, Spivakov, Temirkanov.

UTO Ughi does not restrict his interests solely to music, but is at the forefront of the social life of the country and its commitment to the preservation of national heritage is above all.
With this in mind he founded the festival "Omaggio a Venezia", in order to report and collect funds for the restoration of historic monuments of the city. Concluded that experience, the festival "homage to Rome" (from 1999 to 2002) collects the ideal legacy of proactive engagement, aiming at spreading the great international musical heritage; concerts open free to the public and to the promotion of young talents formed in Italian conservatories.

Such ideals were resumed in 2003 and currently being carried out by the festival "Uto Ughi per Roma" referred Ughi is the creator, founder and artistic director.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers recently appointed him Chairman of the Commission appointed to investigate a communication campaign in favour of classical music at the youth audience.

In April 2002 he was given the honorary doctorate in communication sciences.
Intense is its recording activity with BMG Memories s.p.a-for whom he recorded: the Concerts of Beethoven and Brahms with Sawallisch, Cajkovskij with Kurt Sanderling, Mendelssohn and Bruch with Prêtre, some Beethoven sonatas with Sawallisch on piano, the complete Mozart concertos, Viotti, Vivaldi, "the four seasons", three Paganini's Concerts in the new edition of Director – solo , the Dvorak Concerto with Leonard Slatkin and the Philharmonia Orchestra of London; the Bach sonatas and Partitas for solo violin.
Latest engravings are: "the Devil's trill" (album "live" of the most important Violin virtuoso pieces); the Schumann Concerto conducted by M° Sawallish with Bayerischer Rundfunk; the concertos by Vivaldi with i Filarmonici di Roma; the Spanish Symphony of Lalo with the RAI Orchestra of Turin and de Burgos; the recording for Sony Classical, in 2013, entitled 'romantic violin", a collection of pieces emblematic of romanticism on the violin, with the participation of the Chamber Orchestra I Filarmonici di Roma.
Other events of particular significance is the publication of the book "that devil of a Trill – notes of my life", published by Einaudi in 2013: the story of an amazing life, dedicated entirely to music.

UTO Ughi plays a Guarneri del Gesu of 1744, which possesses a warm sound dark timbre and is perhaps one of the most beautiful "Guarneri" exist, and with a Stradivarius of 1701 named "Kreutzer" because it belonged to the homonymous violinist to whom Beethoven had dedicated his famous Sonata.
