INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN DAY
"The culture of the mountain: celebration of diversity to strengthen the identity". Many mountain areas are home to ancient indigenous communities who own and maintain valuable knowledge, traditions and languages.
If managed sustainably, mountain tourism can play a role in promoting and protecting traditional cultures, as well as creating incentives for the protection of mountain ecosystems, their goods and services.
INVITATION TO DISCOVER THE MOUNTAIN OF FOZA
9.00 a.m. meeting at the Museum of Foza in via g. e. Turba.
Beginning guided hike along ancient paths that connected the device to the "downtown".
Visiting Mount Cornon and Sasso Rosso (historically important areas to the mountainous area of the Asiago plateau and its foothills, the Brenta Canal).
The theme of our day will be linked to the variety and richness of mountain cultures, with the aim of promoting the wide range of identities "montane". We will talk about the "end of an era and a culture" that of the people of the Cimbri present here since the year 1000 and completely erased by the great war, great changes not only linguistic but also architectural lifestyles and the "culture" montana occurred here in just 100 years.
Along the route we will go trough the beautiful and characteristic quarters of Foza, along ancient paths, vital roads that always converges outlying areas to "downtown". We'll talk about biodiversity, flora and fauna with endemic species such as the salamandra Atra Aurorae and the breed of sheep "Foza" autochthonous of these mountains bearing economy element already in Roman times, during the Venetian Republic and now reduced to little more than a hundred heads.
Return to the country at about 13.00 and lunch at the "Ristorante Hotel Alpi" with typical local menu.

During the afternoon you will have access to temporary exhibition 1916 a year of War through "covers of the Domenica del Corriere" with the presence of Gian Paolo Marchetti, curator of the exhibition.

Walking boots or hiking boots, long pants (no jeans), fleece, hat and gloves, headlamp, anorak, a spare to keep in the car.

Us "Plateau" we are the first group of professional guides of the plateau. We are local guides who operate on the territory of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni since 2008. Membership to the site by members of the group ensures an intimate knowledge of the proposals and a deeply respectful approach towards the environment and its history. Our guides are mountain professionals recognized and enrolled in the province of Vicenza; they propose to accompany busloads of people hiking and tours around the area, as required by regional law No. 33 of 11/4/2002 and according to the laws of the professional bodies of which fan part.
