Tuesday, August 17, 2021,there will be a new meeting of the literary review"Aperitif with the author",organized by the library Giunti al Punto di Asiago.

Daniele Zovi will present to the public his book "Autobiography of the snow. The shapes of crystals, the end of glaciers and other stories from a silent world."

The meeting will be held as always in Piazza Carli at the piazzale del Duomo,in the center of Asiago, at 5.30pm.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED to be made at the Tourist Information desk of the Municipality of Asiago.

The reservation allows access to the reserved area at the piazzale del Duomo,in Asiago and, only in case of bad weather,at the first 170 bookings, the entrance to the Palazzo del Turismo Millepini.

For Daniele Zovi, born among the peaks that frame theAsiago Plateau,snow is part of the landscape of memory, the physical space in which our memories move. The one with dar snea – as the snow is called in the Cimbra language of the plateau – is a love that began as a child, while watching the flakes go down slowly, and then remained constant and passionate in a life of work as a forester.
Through personal stories and legends, studies and scientific data, Zovi retraces in these pages his Alpine education. We follow its steps along the snowy paths, from the explorations on the skis of the adolescen¬za, on the mountains of the house, to the military marches along the streets of the Great War, from trips to Russia and the Andes to the slopes of the great Himalayan glaciers, where, embedded in the crystals, the biological me¬moria of our planet is preserved.
Among the woods and the ice, we find ourselves immersed in a fantastic world, fragile and silent, of which, in recent times, we have begun to lose experience: while every year the snowfalls dimi¬nuiscono dramatically, Zovi composes a poetic autobiography, a tribute to a world every day more precarious: an expedition of recoveries towards their past , and an urgent attempt to safeguard our history, enclosed in snow.

THE AUTHOR DANIELE ZOVI

Daniele Zovi was born in Roana and raised in Vicenza. He graduated in Forestry in Padua and for forty years served in the State Forestry Corps, first as an officer and then as a manager. In 2017 he was appointed brigadier general of the Carabi-nieri-Forestry Command of Veneto and is one of the leading experts in the field of wild animals, author of several treatises on the subject.
