TheAsiago plateau , in remote places and still intact, little treasures of biodiversity. Precious testimonies of a past untainted and ecosystems and climatic characteristics very different from those of today.

Sunday, July 16, 2017, the Cooperativa Biosphaera will lead to the discovery of a rare and precious species of salamander that only lives in some particular places on the plateau, the Salamander of Aurora.

In the company of a naturalist expert on amphibians and a nature guide we will visit the nature museum Patrizio Rigoni di Asiago and you will walk trails through the places inhabited by the Salamander of Aurora, studying how this rare species is studied and what are the special characteristics that make it unique.

The Aurora Salamander is listed as "critically endangeredamphibian" on a global scale and is an endangered species conservation priority "habitats directive" of the European Union, whereby any research in the field has to be carried out exclusively by professional researchers with permission. For these reasons, during the excursion will not turn any direct research activities, but you will learn the techniques and procedures of study of this species.

The hike is easy, suitable for children aged 6 years and above.
Required sportswear and shoes or hiking boots, fleece and rain jacket just in case.

At the end of the excursion you will have the opportunity to have lunch in a typical restaurant (hut or shelter) in the area. The choice will be communicated to participants at the time of booking.

EXCURSION PROGRAM

• hours 09.00 -meeting at the nature museum Patrizio Rigoni di Asiago.
• 10.30 a.m. -short displacement to reach the scene of the excursion.
• hours 13.00 -End excursion.

The price not includes:

• Transport to and from the meeting point
• Entrance to the Museo Naturalistico Patrizio Rigoni (whole €3.00-reduced €2.00)
• Optional lunch in mountain huts or shelter at the end of event
