FEAST of the SHEEP of 2018 2018-Sunday August 26 FOZA

Arts and Crafts Square demonstration dedicated to the manufacture of wool on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni

Back again this year, Sunday 26 August 2018, the Feast of the sheep of Foza, an event eagerly awaited summer plateau, which attracts tourists, gawkers and fans from all over the Veneto region and beyond.

Protagonists of this traditional festival are the sheep of Foza and the ancient craft of sheep farming and wool production, which thanks to demonstrations and reenactments will rediscover in children and adults and on a day full of events and activities.

During the Feast of the sheep of Foza, since morning you can browse, through the streets of the town, amongst the many stalls of handicrafts and mountain (mountain cheeses, Rotzo potatoes, beans of Posina, products of herbal medicine, garments of wool and other natural fibers, bags and straw hats, wooden handicrafts and more) and admire experts carvers, basket weavers, braiders, manufacturers of bags and hats at work.

In front of City Hall will be set up an enclosure for the sheep's fodate ', complemented this year by some heads of sheep ' Bans' Lessinia, while at the ethnographic museum will be organized guided tours, with special attention to the section that tells the history and importance of this ancient activity.

In the afternoon, planned the parade of participants, as a result of which the children of the village will dance the Cabal, an ancient folk dance.

From 15.30 onwards, will be the work of the woolfrom the sheep shearing live , to continue with the washing of wool, carding Thistle flowers and with the appropriate old tools, spinning both with the time zone that the foot flyer, composition of skeins and balls, dyeing of wool with herbal substances, felting to get the boiled wool, weaving with four frames licci, crochet and needle work, stuffing mattresses.

At 18.00, we will then all around the mea for storage of hay and dried, with the commemoration of haymaking run with the old tools.
The winner will also be awarded "featured the sheep", after a day full of tradition and authenticity.
