On Friday, November 24 , 2023, the Municipality of Gallio joins the significant initiative "Let's Break the Wall of Silence", a torchlight procession to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. 

The event will start at 6:30 pm at Piazzale Cineghel, from which you will follow a route that will cross the streets of the town to the square of the Town Hall. 

This moment of reflection and solidarity will include moments of silence, flash mobs and remembrance of the victims of direct and/or witnessed violence, with a thought for both women and their sons and daughters.

A special tribute can only go to Giulia Cecchettin, recently the victim of a tragic femicide, a case that has deeply shaken all of us. Giulia sadly became the 83rd victim of femicide in Italy in the year 2023 alone, a disturbing phenomenon that underlines the urgency of addressing and combating gender-based violence.

The event not only commemorates the victims, but also serves as a stark reminder of the need for cultural and social change. With 285 homicides recorded in Italy in 2023, including 103 women and 54 at the hands of partners or ex-partners, the fight against violence against women remains a crucial issue. 

The presence of men is particularly encouraged at the event, to testify to a collective commitment in the fight against this social scourge.

The Asiago 7 Municipalities Plateau once again proves to be a place where not only local traditions are enhanced, but also where important social issues are addressed, promoting awareness and change. This event is an expression of community solidarity and commitment to a future free from violence.
