When my father told me about it, it seemed a very distant thing to me. What could I learn from a story that happened in the mountains a hundred years ago? What did I have to do with those people?
"At the beginning of May they began to arrive up by the thousands, alpine; infantrymen and sharpshooters from all over Italy, with some we did not even understand each other to talk. We were all there for the same reason, but no one knew what it was. We understood it on the day of the first assault: if it made sense to stay alive, it was to defend every bòcia, every woman left at home or wait for us".
"Fiori frodi, Ortigara 1917" is a theatrical monologue to tell one of the most terrible episodes, in one of the most nefarious moments in the history of humanity. Made happened a century ago, but still full of a deep teaching, hidden among those distorted rocks, that raped vegetation, those holes, those tunnels, those remains of shacks and trenches dug into the rock, those marble tombstones and bouquets of flowers laid to the memory brotherhood, of respect.
