On Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., in a place like Fort Corbin, which finds its main source of truth in photography, a curious debate will take place on the often underestimated power of photographic practice. In fact, there is a strong link between the photographic image, reality and memory.
Through the ideas offered by Prof. Laura Rossi, we will reflect on the value of photography in the historical, social, cultural field and on the possibility that man has, through it, to achieve small and large goals such as the memorization of concepts through visual memory, freedom from social conditioning, emancipation, communication, the transmission of content between generations, the denunciation of injustices and much more.
We will therefore understand the importance of the role of the photographer and the responsibility he assumes with his images, given that photography is a gesture of beauty that educates us and makes us discover the world.
Finally, a question will shed light on everything: if photography becomes a tool for encountering new realities and new cultures, can it become an instrument of peace?

Laura Rossi is an expert in philosophy. After her first degree in Political Science, specialising in History, at the University of Bologna, she dedicated herself to the study of Philosophy (master's degree at the University of Ferrara). This path was followed by a PhD in Contemporary Philosophy, with international mention, at the University of Valencia (Spain).
He prefers American pragmatic philosophy in relation to art and all the expressions that lead back to it, producing a series of national and international publications; he received the highest mention for his doctoral thesis entitled "Philosophy of gesture: phenomenology of photography between 1930 and 1950".
He has taught, as an expert in the subject, at the Liceo Artistico Valle in Padua; he currently teaches at the Università Popolare Polesana with interdisciplinary lessons that include different subjects (history, art, philosophy, philosophy of politics) with much satisfaction. He continues to teach as an expert in the subject (History of photography and philosophy) at Technical Institutes in Rovigo and its province.
