GIGI ABRIANI presents the book "VITA RAMENGA" in Asiago - 13 August 2021

Friday, August 13, 2021 will be held a new meeting of the literary review"Aperitif with the author",organized by the library Giunti al Punto di Asiago.

The photographer Gigi Abriani will present to the public his book"Vita Ramenga - Transhumance - World Heritage Site. The cycle of the seasons and the ancient rhythm of man's life."

The meeting will be held in Piazzetta San Rocco,in the center of Asiago,at 5.30pm.

The reservation allows access to the reserved area at the piazzale del Duomo,in Asiago and, only in case of bad weather,at the first 170 bookings, the entrance to the Palazzo del Turismo Millepini.

Andar ramengo is an expression of Venetian parlata, it preserves in itself the sense of something now finished, which has gone or is going to die. But the ramengo is also an outsider, someone who cuts with his own roots to live on the border in a world of difficult understanding. The volume by the photographer Abriani was born from the idea of following a wandering shepherd during the span of a year documenting his daily life and accompanying him in his movements: from the ascent of the Astico river to the ascent to the Plateau, from Gallio to the high lands, the return to Asiago and then the descent through the foothills and finally the Riviera del Brenta. Before any shot he spent hours and hours talking to the shepherd, shared the rhythm of the day and the steps of the flock. Only then did he seal with a shot the moment, the encounter with a world so different and unknown until then. So he translated in his photos first of all the desire for a choice, that of the hard life of the shepherd.
