The earliest origin of this people is traced back to the end of the 2nd centuryBC, when the Cimbri, Germanic or Celtictribe, invaded the territory of the Roman republic, settling around the Venetian Alps and maintaining language andculture. Ancient sources indicate their original location in northern Jutland,in present-day Denmark, called the cimbra peninsula throughout antiquity.

More recently and consequently more endorsed by the scientific community, it was the descent from southern Germany to the south of the Alps and also on thePlateau, around and especially after the year Thousand (low MiddleAges ), of some groups fromthe Bavaro-Tyrolean languagearea. These were peoples who had emigrated from Germany, mostly peacefully, in search of land to cultivate tolive, often led by bishops, imperial representatives, religious orders, as it turns out some historical documents.
