REGULATION

The League is divided into three phases, played during the months of September, October and November. The position of your country in the IIHF World rankings, determines at which stage the teams will come into the game. Until 2008, a team from the qualifying draw, which in addition to the three teams qualified in law, held the final round. Since then the teams qualified by right to the final round are two and two.

THE CONTINENTAL CUP HISTORY

The Continental Cup arises when the Euro Hockey League went to replace the Cup: I took part in the winning teams of the leagues that did not have representatives in the EHL.

Between 1998 and 2000, winning the Continental Cup was entered to the IIHF Super Cup, only to clash with the winner of the EHL. Until 2007-08 there took part the winning teams of the leagues that do not participate in the European Champions Cup (heir of the EHL) teams were chosen by the federations of the best six Championships, which replace the samples.

In the 2008-2009 Edition, given the performance at the same time the birth of the Champions Hockey League, took part in the European Championships winners, except those of the seven most important (Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Finland). The formula was repeated the following season.
