On Sunday 18 October 2026, Malga Col del Vento in Cesuna di Roana, on the Asiago Sette Comuni Plateau, offers a very special autumn event: "Foliage becomes ... of Wool!", an event dedicated to sheep shearing and the discovery of one of the oldest and most precious natural fibers of the mountain tradition.
Coinciding with the weekend of Asiago Foliage, the event dedicated to the colors and atmospheres of autumn on the Plateau, the malga offers an original way to experience this season through the rediscovery of the pastoral traditions of the area.
From 10:00 to 12:00, young and old will be able to watch an autumn shearing session of Foza sheep up close, an opportunity to learn about these animals linked to the history of pastoralism in the Plateau and understand the importance of a practice that has accompanied the life of farmers for centuries.
During the morning it will be possible to find out why sheep are sheared, how shearing takes place and what are the properties of wool, a natural fiber with excellent insulating and thermoregulatory characteristics, which has always been used to protect against the cold.
But the surprises do not end there! Waiting for visitors there will also be the tender lambs born in these days, which it will be possible to get to know up close and cuddle, to the delight especially of the little ones.
Between the warm colors of the foliage and the authentic atmosphere of life in the malga, the initiative will thus offer the opportunity to spend a few hours in contact with animals, rediscovering the value of sheep farming, the link with nature and the rural traditions of the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities.
An experience particularly suitable for families with children, but also for anyone who wants to get closer to the world of breeding and learn more about a sheep breed deeply linked to the territory.
For those who want to extend the day in the malga, it will also be possible to stop for lunch or dinner, after booking a table.
