Sunday, August 14 , 2022, at 17.30, at the Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Asiago there will be a literary meeting with the glaciologist Franco Secchieri for the presentation of his book "Climate and Glaciers - The Case dolomites: the last 40 years of history of glaciers told in images".
The event also includes the participation of Daniele Zovi, brigadier general of the Carabinieri-Forestry Command of Veneto and one of the leading experts in the field of wild animals, as well as author of several treatises on the subject.
The entrance will be regulated according to the anti covid legislation in force.
THE BOOK
Surely Veneto is located in the geographical area affected by this meticulous analysis, documented by a suggestive iconographic apparatus. Climate variations have become a topic of extreme interest, scientific and media, for the changes that, not only Nature, but also the whole society will have to face.
In this context, glaciers represent one of the most important aspects of changes in the mountain environment. In this context, the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as their glaciers are involved.
To document what is happening to our mountains, the author has collected the most beautiful photographs of the glaciers and glacionevati of the Dolomites (over 80) since 1980, the result of a study and research work carried out also in collaboration with the Veneto Region. Forty years of history narrated through the comparison of images, mainly aerial, performed during periodic and annual reconnaissance flights carried out up to the present day.
It is a unique and unrepeatable testimony of high-altitude landscapes that are now disappearing, landscapes consigned to the memory of young and future mountaineers or simple mountain lovers.
All the frozen masses present in the various Dolomite groups are portrayed: from the Marmolada to the Civetta, from the Pale di San Martino to the Cristallo, from the Tofane to the Sorapis and the Antelao.
