The characteristic demonic masks of the folk tradition* will wander among the houses of the the city from 16.00 to 18.00, in search of "bad" children.
But don't worry, St. Nicholas will keep them at bay, while a narrator will tell the legend of this ancient tradition, in a truly evocative atmosphere.

The Krampus, accompanied by St. Nicholas, will parade and stop near the Fountain of the Faun and those who want can approach them for a greeting or to take some monstrous souvenir photos.

The event is organized by JeEvent Studio.

* The Krampus tradition is not only a South Tyrolean tradition, but is also celebrated in many areas of Veneto, from Belluno to Cortina.

Despite the noise and masks that apparently inspire terror, each Krampus parade is characterized by the maximum organization with very strict security measures. There is also an area reserved exclusively for the public, to which the Krampus do not have access.

Krampus Primör

The Krampus Primör  Group comes from the Primiero valley hence the ancient name "Primör".

Formed in 2013 by spontaneous aggregation of a group of enthusiasts, it carries on the alpine tradition of the San Nicolò parade accompanied by the Krampus. The Krampus Primör  Group, thanks to the involvement of heterogeneous and creative personalities, makes the self-production of most of the masks, costumes and objects one of its reasons for pride and satisfaction.

The Krampus have frightening and demonic appearances; the masks carved in wood hide the face, transforming (figuratively) the wearer into a spirit, a mysterious and frightening otherworldly being, awakening the roots of man made of ancestral fears.

Legend has it that it was bishop Nicola (who later became St. Nicholas) who defeated the demons and forced them to follow him to punish the "bad children". This figure has been widespread throughout the Alps since ancient times, and it seems that it was also linked to the pagan celebration of the winter solstice, Sol Invictus, Yule, which later became Christmas in Christian times.
