DESTINATION: among the places of the First World War in the Asiago Plateau and the Seven Municipalities (VI)
The Asiago Plateau 7 Municipalities is now located on the border between Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige, a mountain area of incredible beauty, in every season that finds continuity and harmony between the two regions. Looking closely at the landscape, however, one realizes its stormy past. In fact, the Plateau has the sad record of having spent 41 months on the front line during the First World War.
And so the snow shows us bursting craters of heavy artillery pieces, sinuous tracks that are nothing more than soldiers' walkways.
Snowshoeing in the woods, we will also encounter cave tunnels and what remains of some barracks.
During the conflict, in 1917 there was also the weather to put a strain on the exhausted soldiers at the front, "one of the harshest and snowiest winters that human memory remembers".
The guide will lead you to discover the places of the First World War, telling you stories of soldiers and life at the front, battles and how the landscape has changed over time so as not to forget and enjoy even more fully the well-being and serenity that the mountains offer us today in winter.

DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty of 2 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)
The route is a loop and does not present any particular technical difficulties. It develops between mountain paths and dirt roads. The difference in height is less than 250 m, there are no exposed sections.
The route will be established a few days before the event based on weather conditions and the presence of ice/snow.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU: waterproof mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, water or hot tea for the duration of the excursion, a small snack such as dried fruit, sunglasses, hat, gloves.
COST: €15 for the guided excursion per person, €10 for children under 15 and season ticket holders.
Snowshoes and poles can be rented: €10 per person.
In the event that there is not enough snow, you will proceed on foot without the aid of snowshoes.

Depending on the snow cover, the meeting place may vary and can be established directly at the starting point of the snowshoe hike.
In any case, the journey by car to get to the start will take place entirely on an asphalt road.
