THE BOOK "LIVES LIVED AND NOT. The places of my memory" - Il Mulino

One of the most illustrious and well-known historians, an intellectual committed since his university years, Mario Isnenghi retraces in this original autobiographical essay the stages that marked his human, scientific and political formation: from family origins to school and university experiences, to the political apprenticeship that crosses the Catholic and socialist world in student associations, in trade unions, in teaching. And then the long research activity that led him to reflect, starting from the Great War, on the history of Italian culture, the function of intellectuals, the fragility and contradictions of state construction. Between private confession and public memory, Isnenghi gives the reader a remarkable testimony on the cultural and political history of the last half century.

THE AUTHOR MARIO ISNENGHI

Mario Isnenghi has taught Contemporary History at the Universities of Padua, Turin and Venice. With il Mulino he has published: "Il mito della Grande Guerra" (new ed. 2014), "La tragedia necessaria" (new ed. 2013), "L'Italia in piazza" (2004), "La Grande Guerra" (with G. Rochat, new ed. 2014), "Le guerre degli italiani" (new ed. 2015), "I vinti di Vittorio Veneto"(with P. Pozzato, 2018).

«Immersed in the waves, for the first time in my life to the mud of Abano, I am in full anarchy of memory. It seems that she is well, between fumes and vapors: with that exhausting heat, she comes on everything, from the bottom »
