Mini Trekking by the Isonzo River 22 and 23 June 2019
A true river Trekking (2 days) that runs along the most spectacular stretch of the Isonzo River, the one that develops between the tourist centre of Bovec and the spring.
The route, always varied and exciting, allows you to visit the most hidden and mysterious parts of this great river from the emerald waters. Picturesque bridges suspended over narrow forres, thunderous waterfalls, anse, small ponds, everything here is drawn by the river, which has dug up in time its bed in the white karst rock; There will be many naturalistic cues. Along our itinerary, we will not omit the historical aspects that have seen the whole area involved in numerous clashes, the famous 12 battles of the Isonzo.
In this mountainous area the Julian Alps make themselves bitter and imposing in stark contrast with the green and harmony of the valley floor sprinkled today by graceful and orderly villages. Our journey ends right at the source of the Great river, where the water spurts from the ground to form a tiny puddle. On the second day at the end of the excursion, a guided visit to the shrine of Caporetto and if it remains time at the Museum of War 15/18.
PROGRAM OF THE EXCURSION:
Meeting point for 9.30 hours at the Kobarid Square in Caporetto, Slovenia.
Duration of excursion: 2 days
Difficulty: EASY with two stages Max 12-15 km with Max 300 MT of altitude difference (it requires trekking boot, in some stretches on the creek edge the path can be slippery)
Altitude difference: 300 m D +/day
