It was the last days of that hell, the 25th of June! There were only a few minutes left. From an altitude of 2105 m an Italian machine gun opened fire. And just at that moment the terrifying enemy bombardment that precedes the decisive attack begins. The fate of hundreds of men is now inexorably sealed. Operation Wildbach is taking place!!!! The Austro-Hungarians go to the assault of the disputed summit of Ortigara, taken by our Alpini, with serious losses and suffering, only a few days before. Of Mount Ortigara and of the whole adjacent area it is not necessary to say much else, you have to go there, walk it as if on a pilgrimage, observe the battlefield with conscious eyes and breathe its silences, today precious if you know the history of these mountains. In September 1920, the First National Meeting of the Alpini was held there, which saw about 2,000 veterans and family members converge on the top to hoist the imposing "Colonna Mozza" in granite in memory of the fallen, engraved with the inscription Per non Dimenticare. Guide Altopiano on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the foundation of offers throughout 2022 excursions and trekking in the historical footsteps of the Alpini.

MEDIUM: The itinerary definitely exceeds three hours, it is more complex, it takes place on a path with some challenging climbs or descents but can be overcome without the support of mountaineering equipment. The terrain may be bumpy or lack signals. The maximum difference in height remains within 400 meters.
MEDIUM / CHALLENGING: The itinerary definitely exceeds three hours, it is complex for the difference in height that can reach 700 meters or for the length of the walk up to 6 hours, it takes place on a path with some climb or descent challenging but surmountable without the support of mountaineering equipment. The terrain may be bumpy or lack signals.
CHALLENGING: These are itineraries that require long experience, training and physical strength on the part of those who travel them. It is necessary to know how to move with skill even in dangerous terrain: screes, steep slopes or steep stretches, dense scrub, high and without references, rock passages, absence of springs. The difficulty of the terrain and the distance from the support points require total autonomy. Where indicated there may be the need to bring with you bivouac material such as the tent, bivouac bag, stove, food, requires training, energy and strong motivation.

We "Plateau Guides" are the first group of professional guides of the Plateau. We are local guides who have been operating on the territory of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni since 2008. The belonging to the place by the members of the group ensures an intimate knowledge of the proposed destinations and a deeply respectful approach to the environment and its history. Our passions for nature, history and sport have led us to choose a life path based on the study of the environment and local history. Graduates in scientific, tourist and sports subjects such as Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences and Motor Sciences we have also specialized in the historical field with courses recognized by the Province of Vicenza. In order to practice professionally, we are regularly enrolled in the professional registers of Environmental Naturalistic Guide (L.R. n. 33 of 2002 of Veneto), or Medium Mountain Guide (L.R. 23 July 2013, n.18).
A few steps from the center of Gallium is the starting point of this beautiful route, which will lead us to one of the most characteristic and evocative places of the Plateau.
