Update August 25, 2021: The exhibition "Veneto Felice" at the Museum Le Carceri di Asiago has been extended until November 14, 2021.

THE EXHIBITION

"Veneto Felice" is the exhibition of Venetian identity enhanced through contemporary art, an ambitious and exclusive project composed of only unpublished works, created expressly to be exhibited in the Museum Le Carceri di Asiago.

It is an impressive production effort that involves 15 artists of different generations and trends: 14 painters and 1 ceramist. They are mostly Venetian, by birth, family origin or residence, and to a lesser extent not Venetian but linked to the region for the relationship with Venetian collectors and attention to Venetian subjects. All 15 belong to the national art world and some, in particular Matteo Massagrande and Nicola Verlato, also international. All 15 have created works that express the concept of "Happy Veneto", therefore linked to the territory in its multiple articulations and to a sympathetic vision of men and things between Garda and Tagliamento, Dolomites and Lagoon.

The title is derived from Giovanni Comisso, the most vitalist and radiant among the Venetian writers of the twentieth century, and is at the same time an observation and a wish: the observation of an appreciated Venetian characteristic, the hope for a new season of serenity. In addition to the definition of a positive art and therefore, in this difficult era and in an artistic context too often depressive, in indispensable countertrend.

Curated by Camillo Langone, "Veneto Felice" is the second exhibition linked to the Excellent Painters Award – Brazzale, sponsored by the Brazzale Group to make known to the wider public the recent results of contemporary Italian painting.

Participants: Fabio Bianco (Mirano 1971), Vanni Cuoghi (Genoa 1966), Alessandro Fogo (Thiene 1992), Giuliano Guatta (San Felice del Benaco 1967), Matteo Massagrande (Padua 1959), Raffaele Minotto (Padua 1969), Nicola Nannini (Bologna 1972), Manuel Pablo Pace (Montecchio Maggiore 1977), Mauro Reggio (Rome 1971), Enrico Robusti (Parma 1957), Elisa Rossi (Venice 1980), Marta Sforni (Milan 1966), Lorenzo Tonda (Fiesole 1992), Nicola Verlato (Verona 1965) + Nero/Alessandro Neretti (Faenza 1980).

The Plateau with its great historical heritage has always been oriented towards contemporaneity and sensitive to Art in its many forms and for these reasons it has been elected as the most appropriate venue.

The Excellent Painters Award (), conceived by the journalist Camillo Langone, and supported for the seventh consecutive year by the Brazzale Group, stands today as a true "diary of living Italian painting". The requirements of the selected panels are essentially two. They must be Italian and painted by living artists: "Excellent painters is the home of painting that is born and is an expression of true, living art, which aims to enhance the talent of Italian painting. In Italy we are in the presence of a great offer of excellent painting - explains Camillo Langone - something that has not been seen since the sixties, but at the same time of a low demand. It is preferred for convenience to focus on our artistic past. That's why our painters are most often forced to work abroad in order to do this job."

Among the Italian art awards, Eccellenti Pittori-Brazzale is the only one dedicated exclusively to painting. The only one whose jury is not formed solely by insiders, but by illustrious lovers of beauty. The only recognition focused on the need to give visibility to the best Italian painting produced in the last twelve months. Without discrimination of age, style, curriculum, without requiring registration fees or availability of the works, and all this to have a more complete panorama of the best contemporary pictorial production.

During the time of the exhibition there will be meetings and conversations on the themes of living painting that will have as protagonists artists and art critics, as well as musical moments organized in collaboration with Asiagofestival.

Camillo Langone lives in Parma, after having collected a good number of cities (Potenza, Vicenza, Verona, Caserta, Viterbo, Pisa, Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Trani...). He has published ten books, including "Excellent Painters. The Italian artists of today to know, admire, collect" (Marsilio). He writes on the Foglio (on whose pages he invented the figure of the liturgical critic) and in Il Giornale, dealing in particular with literature, architecture, food and wine, as well as of course contemporary art
