Presentazione del libro "La dedizione a Venezia della Comunità Cimbra e delle Genti di Montagna"

On Monday, January 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber of Gallio, for the "Christmas with the author" review, the book "The dedication to Venice of the Cimbrian Community and the Mountain People" will be presented with the participation of the author, the Hon. Flavio Rodeghiero

An unmissable cultural event to discover the millenary history that has linked the Venetian Alpine communities, in particular the Cimbrian ones, to the Serenissima Republic of Venice.

On this occasion, the author will guide the public through a fascinating journey through time, among archival documents, traditions and social dynamics, telling how mountain people have chosen dedication to Venice as a form of protection and autonomy

A historical in-depth study that highlights the cultural and political roots of a unique territory, rich in identities and values to be rediscovered.

We invite you to participate to hear directly from Rodeghiero's voice the meaning of this important historical bond, with a space for questions and discussion. 

An event promoted by the Municipality of Gallio as part of the cultural initiatives dedicated to the enhancement of the local heritage and historical memory.

The book "The dedication to Venice of the Cimbrian Community and the Mountain People"

"The dedication to Venice of the Cimbrian Community and the Mountain People" is a historical essay by Flavio Rodeghiero that tells how the Alpine and Cimbrian communities chose to rely on the Republic of Venice, establishing a relationship of protection and autonomy. 

The book explores this process through original documents, analyzing the political, cultural and economic motivations that linked these territories to the Serenissima. A fundamental text for understanding the history and identity of the Veneto mountains, rich in insights into Cimbrian traditions and local autonomy.


The author: Flavio Rodeghiero

Flavio Rodeghiero was born in Foza (Plateau of the Seven Municipalities - Vicenza) on September 2, 1960. He is a journalist, university lecturer and essayist with a multidisciplinary background that includes law, political science and theology. 

He has a long career in institutions and politics: he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies in three legislatures from 1994 to 2006, with significant commitments in the Culture and Community Affairs Committees.

He has held important roles in the enhancement of the Veneto cultural heritage, in particular of the walled cities and the assets related to the First World War on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities. He was Councillor for Culture and Tourism for the Mountain Community Dear Regency of Seven Municipalities and for the Municipality of Padua, as well as President of various cultural institutions and promoter of laws for historical and environmental protection.

Rodeghiero is the author of numerous historical essays, with particular attention to the Cimbrian communities, the Alpine autonomies and the historical and cultural heritage of the Triveneto. His research activity ranges from the historical analysis of local institutions to the promotion of the cultural and linguistic identities of the Veneto mountains. In addition to his academic and political activity, he has been involved in cultural initiatives and in the field of territorial enhancement, contributing to important awards such as the inscription of the fourteenth-century frescoes of Padua in the UNESCO list.
