Saturday 9 July 2022 from 9.30 to 16.00
GOAL: Monte Verena - Plateau of the Seven Municipalities
During this excursion we will be accompanied on our climb by lush forests of fir and larch and then by expanses of mountain pine, home to several wild animals that we will get to know thanks to the observation of the signs of their presence, off the beaten track. In front of us will open extraordinary views ranging from the Venetian lagoon to the Swiss peaks, finally reaching the top of Verena (2020m) to visit the ruins of the homonymous Fort.
This structure, on May 24, 1915, sanctioned the entry into the War of Italy with a cannon explosion towards the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Not to forget, we visit this structure still imbued with the suffering of soldiers and mountain populations.
The guide, starting from an analysis of the landscape, will take you on a journey through history to discover how the Great War changed this territory and the life of its people.
