Artemusica culture-closing concert of the summer 2018-"Musica FICTA"-Milan Saxphone Quartet

Artemusica culture, in his important and varied programme, will appeal to fans by presenting a saxophone quartet in concert, to be held on August 18 at 21.00 in the Sala s. Giustina di Roana. The Quartet, composed of Damiano Garner, Stephen Pope, Massimiliano Girardi and Livia Ferrara, will present a diverse program and refined based on music by Lake, Glazunov, Sciarrino, Gerswhin and Escaich.
Light refreshments will follow.

A concert with a repertoire that highlights the unique sounds of a virtuosic ability and saxophone quartet.
A fusion of so many different composers among them for history, tradition and geography: the Russian conductor Glazunov to Dutch saxophonist Lake, the American pianist and conductor Gershwin French organist and improviser Escaich.
A mix of present and past sure to delight and appreciation for all the public.
A repertoire between original and traditional with a new instrument, of great spread in classical and contemporary music.

The Milan Saxophone Quartet was founded in 2010 by a group of four young musicians from Piedmont, Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino.
Thanks to their international education under the guidance of the most famous masters of the international scene in France, Austria and Italy have developed and refined a musical virtuosity combined with 100% made in Italy today appreciated everywhere. As saxophonists and as a Quartet have played all over the world in the best theaters: Konzerthaus Vienna, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Teatro del Lago in Chile, Taipei's National Concert Hall, La Scala in Milan, Philharmonie Berlin, civic theatre of Alghero, Ristori theatre of Verona, Teatro Dell'Arte di Milano, Teatro Vittoria of Torino, Teatro Civico di Schio, Teatro Secci of Terni and Teatro Comunale di Vicenza.
The Quartet's activities are manifold: concert activity, research in collaboration with composers and performers, teaching (in the form of master classes and concert lessons) and recordings.
Among the various contributions, are significant for the International Music Festival "on time" the XVIII International Festival of saxophone, the Saxfest in Vienna, the Sardinia OrganFest 2014, Milano Musica Festival, Music Festival, Shore, Alpen Classic Belgrade SAXperience, Chile Sax Fest, Opera Estate, Mozart Association Italy, Società del quartetto in Vercelli, Classical, Classical Saxophone Fest, Innsbruck Alpen Brianza Palazzo Marino in music, Ceresio Estate Festival, Lake Como Festival, Mito Settembre Musica, Fondazione Teatro Civico di Schio, Associazione Filarmonica Umbra, Società del quartetto di Vicenza, Società del Quartetto di Milano, just to name a few.
Also the MSQ has performed world premieres and recordings of composers like Mario Pagotto, Sandro Fazzolari, Maarten De Splenter, Abubakar Sadiq, Stephen ball just to name a few.
The distinctive feature of the MSQ has always been a strong predilection for organic unity and originality.
MUSICA FICTA, the new recordings on the German label ARS, the inspiration of the work of reprocessing of Salvatore Sciarrino in his "Songbook" by Scarlatti, rework for saxophone quartet of important instrumental works from publishers "operatic" as Verdi and Puccini. The record of the MSQ was reviewed by prestigious magazines Amadeus and music, getting 5 stars in both artistic and technical rating.
Results recording award winners "Masi Foundation", they recorded their second album dedicated to Gian Francesco Malipiero, RISPETTI E STRAMBOTTI.
