OLIVER KERN

Oliver Kern was born in 1970 in Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany, where he began studying piano at age 5 years.

He undertakes the artistic activity, distinguishing himself in the German music scene for the brilliant results achieved in international piano competitions.

He graduated with honors in piano, conducting and choir at the Academy "Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, under the leadership of Wan Ing Ong.

Later she specialized in piano with Rudolf Buchbinder and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, the Musik-Akademie Basel "and" Mozarteum "in Salzburg.

Get many awards in international piano competitions: first and second prizes in the competitions of Senigallia, Hamamatsu, Beijing and Paris.

It requires the attention of critics and won two prestigious competitions: "ARD" in Munich 1999, "Beethoven" in Vienna in 2001, which also follows the Special Prize for the best interpretation of Beethoven's Sonatas.

The latter victory gives Kern the excellence of the first German ever to have achieved this milestone.
Appreciated interpreter of Beethoven and Brahms, the critics acknowledge the merit of a technical virtuosity is not an end in itself, but for an accurate timbre and expressive search: "Beethoven's execution of Kern is the first really convincing after the sacred monsters of the 1930s-1950s (r. Risaliti).

His intellectual rigor causes the creation of singular cultural projects: performs the piano Brahms opera omnia, in Braunschweig Classix Festival in 2003 and in 2004-2005 Music Season in Seoul, Korea. He has performed in important Festivals and famous halls of America, Asia and Europe, gaining anywhere public successes: the Musikverein in Vienna, the Auditorium s. Cecilia in Rome, the Berlin Schauspielhaus, Hamburg's Musikhalle, Herkulessaal in Munich, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Saitama Arts Centre Tokyo, Seoul Arts Center, Century Hall Beijing.

He has performed with famous orchestras, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, Radiosinfonieorchestre of Berlin, Munich, Hanover and Vienna, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies Masters, Michael Stern, Lü Jia, Marc Soustrot, Gerard Oskamp, Dmitri Yablonski. He has recorded for radio and television of Germany, Austrian, French, Italian and Japanese.

Place, in addition to the solo, Chamber music activities with: the famous La Scala String Quartet, Francesco Manara, first violin soloist of the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Alessio Allegrini, First French Horn soloist, Mozart orchestra c. Abbado and the Accademia nazionale di s. Cecilia.

Published for the label "Realsound" several solo CD with works by Beethoven, Berg, Brahms, Chopin, Ravel, Schubert, Schumann, Scriabin, Stravinsky.
Oliver Kern is also Professor of piano at the renowned Hochschule für Musil und Theater Hamburg.
