Presentation of the book published by the Historical-Cultural Association Front South - Plateau 7 municipalities
On Tuesday 20 August 2019,at the Library "Mario Rigoni Stern" in Cesuna of Roana will be held the present of the new book published by theHistorical-Cultural Association Front South - Plateau sevenmunicipalities.
The presentation of the book "MountLemerle",created by Luciano Valente and the working group onthe Great War, will begin at 20:45.
MOUNT LEMERLE
A historical re-reading of the extraordinary events that a century ago concerned the southern part of the Asiago Plateau where, during the "Strafexpedition" of 1916 and the "Battle of the Solstice" in 1918, the armies of the armies of each country clashed European. They were shocking events, which fell upon a handkerchief of land that until then had been immersed in the peace of its woods, and which were such as to mark forever the soul and consciences of the young people who were then tragically protagonists. A reconstruction of testimonies and images that can allow us today a detailed view of what happened there a century ago, reviewed with the eyes of the military, simple soldiers or high-ranking officers, whose memories are handed down with some touching passages taken from their diaries and finally with some poems dedicated to these enchanting places, overwhelmed by the fury of battle. The volume also includes a map section with various documents (Italian, Austro-Hungarian and British) able to make the reader retrace even on the ground what is remembered by the words of those who really lived that tragic experience
