The Strafexpedition
If there was an event that characterized the great war in the mountains of the Veneto and Trentino, was undoubtedly the Austro-Hungarian offensive of June 1916, better known as Strafexpedition. Brief interview with Paolo Pozzato
The Strafexpedition is a sensitive issue, even a hundred years later that July 1916 where the Austrian decided to attack from Rovereto to Borgo Valsugana, Folgaria in Asiago for what was dubbed "punitive expedition" against former Italian ally.

What was the incentive to write this book?
«It is more or less always the same research in recent years, the desire to make available to the Italian public, scholars seem less interested, the memories of the "other", at least the Austrian component against which we fought. The choice of 1916 is linked from one side to the anniversary, the other to the fact that this is a turning point for the Italian war both in terms of military, for the first time we are forced to the defensive, both politically by declaring war on Germany, and the Eclipse Salandra policy».
What do you think was the most important moment of this offensive?
"It is the very idea that the offensive was based, that is, to reach the plain idea representing a point of absolute weakness, because exposed to final failure in spite of all the partial victories."
For those interested in World War I, the volume The Strafexpedition could be in any way a continuation of another book published by Itinera projects, the key of the plateau?
"The key is the most important analysis of one of the fighting and the loss of the mountain, the Portule, that Italians believed crucial to the defense of the whole plateau, here the view widens to the western slopes of the Val d'astico, alla conquista del Cengio and the invasion of the entire plateau».
