Saturday 26 August 2023 , at 3:30 pm, the authors Alberto Di Gilio and Leonardo Pianezzola, will present, in the evocative setting of Forte Corbin, their intriguing book "Grande guerra. The letter revealed. Monte Ortigara: June 19, 1917. The true story of Lieutenant Adolfo Ferrero" (ed. Gino Rossato).
This work tells the story of a letter written the night before his death by the Turin lieutenant Adolfo Ferrero, who fell on June 19, 1917 on the Ortigara.
Surprisingly, the letter was found only in 1958 on the body of another soldier found on the Ortigara, not on that of its author who had already rested since 1935 in the Leiten Shrine in Asiago.
From this emerged the hypothesis that the remains on which the letter was found may belong to Adolfo's attendant. But how could that letter still be intact after more than 40 years?
Solving this riddle prompted the authors to investigate, thus discovering that in reality Adolfo's letter had been delivered to his parents as early as 1917... So how do you explain the second letter?
To find out, we invite you to Forte Corbin, where the authors will guide you on an exciting journey through time along the slopes of Ortigara, one of the "Sacred" mountains of the Great War.
It will be a surprising revelation, following the traces of those who, of that epic is unanimously recognized and remembered as one of the "heroes".
An investigation that proves to be a unique experience of its kind, experienced as an authentic historical puzzle. A sort of story, through which "Sacred fragments" of such a distant past are unearthed, to finally arrive, after countless twists and turns, at the truth. An unexpected truth, revealed a hundred years later.
