Pomeriggio letterario al forte corbin

Saturday, August 21 , 2021, at 16:00, the author Alberto Di Gilio will present, at , his latest book "Buried alive – Monte Cimone and a mine, a cruel destiny".

THE BOOK

Disappearing into the bowels of the earth almost burying oneself, protecting oneself from the pitfalls of war by catapulting oneself into a dimension outside of humanity itself. It was the mine war, one of the many tragic faces of the Great War that united opposing trenches.

As happened on the Cimone di Tonezza, which saw the explosion of an Austro-Hungarian mine on September 23, 1916. Tons of explosives mutilated the summit of the mountain, leaving a frightening chasm in its place.

This book tells a sad story with a cruel fate. The story of predestined victims, of buried alive, whose remains almost seem to see throbbing underground, and hearing them shout their names in a heartbreaking voice.

THE AUTHOR

Alberto Di Gilio was born in Parma, but lives in Vigonza (Pd). Graduated in law and in possession of the title of lawyer, he works at the Veneto Region. He combines his passion for the First World War with his constant documentary research in the major Italian Museums, Libraries and Historical Archives.

On the theme of the Great War he has written numerous books and held presentations and conferences in Italy and abroad. He has written articles for specialized magazines on the First World War and, as a "historical researcher", he was invited and interviewed by the newspaper "Repubblica": some of his interventions have been included in the series of DVDs on the Great War, edited by the journalist Paolo Rumiz.
