"the return", written all lowercase as befits a minimum and moral history, is a movie that makes us feel the roar of mortars in the distance, the gnawing of drill digging a tunnel beneath the enemy's trenches, the Frost and the monotony of days marked by CHOW and mail delivery, only occasion in which the names of the soldiers are pronounced , recognizing them as being humans rather than as mere numbers.
ERMANNO OLMI
Ermanno Olmi is a Director, screenwriter, film editor, cinematographer, film producer and production designer Italian born in Bergamo. For years lies in the Asiago plateau and also founded the school of Ipotesi Cinema film to Bassano del Grappa.
For their shot several documentaries for RAI, ELMS was winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, collaborating, among others, with Paolo Villaggio.
