On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., in an evocative and historically important setting such as Fort Corbin, we will discover the role of music in battle sites.
The themes are the most varied, as well as their function: they are songs with lyrics and melodies that are easy to memorize, composed to exorcise fear and death, to strengthen belonging to the group, to lift spirits. They tell of distant loves and their affections, of the hope of seeing loved ones again or, sometimes, they exalt the heroism of those who fight and sacrifice themselves for the love of their country. They also describe the locations of battles and the feelings of pain and anguish that characterize the lives of soldiers.
Leading this journey into war music will be Prof. Francesco Toso, historian and opera singer, with the participation of Architect Daniele Milan (ANVGD National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia), through period images and films, war stories, testimonies of contemporaries, instrumental and vocal music (trench songs, soldiers' songs, folk songs), with the presence of singers and actors.
- The event will take place at the canopy of Fort Corbin.
- It's free.
- Before and after the event it will be possible to visit the fortress and its museum to observe the photographic heritage it houses.
